We experience a healthy amount of rainy weather here in the Pacific Northwest (okay, probably an unhealthy amount of rainy weather). While I’m not usually one to talk positive about gray skies and water-soaked shoes, it does make for an ideal test bed when developing products to fight our aquatic adversary.
We’re no strangers to fighting off water droplets. Or to keeping glass clean and clear. But until now we haven’t married the two principles. Welcome Glass Sealant.
Glass Sealant provides an ultra-slick, ultra-clear barrier suitable for all of your exterior glass surfaces. Windshields, side windows, mirrors… you name it. A quick application and the water will bead up and jump off the glass just like your freshly waxed paint. And it doesn’t stop with water; it also repels bugs, bird bombs, and whatever else gets thrown at it, helping keep your glass as it was designed. Clear.
Application is easy…
Step 1: Make sure the glass is clean and dry. Even better if you polish away any water spots (but this isn’t a necessity). A typical cleaning with Window Cleaner will do the trick.
Step 2: Apply Glass Sealant onto a clean, dry cloth of your choice (I like our Micro Fiber Wipe Down Towels, but just about any lint free towel will work) and apply onto the glass in a cross-hatch pattern using firm pressure.
Step 3: Allow the Glass Sealant to dry to a haze. This usually takes about 10 minutes, so by the time you’ve applied the sealant to all of your exterior windows, the first window should be ready for the next step.
Step 4: Apply a 2nd coat of Glass Sealant right over the top of the hazed sealant using the same process as in Step 2.
Step 5: Allow the Glass Sealant to dry to a haze. Again, this should only take about 10 minutes.
Step 6: Using a clean lint-free cloth, buff off all Glass Sealant until clear.
Have fun in your garage!
